Buddies
Thru Bullies Annual Bullympics has become the rescue group's signature event.
Since
1997, Buddies Thru Bullies (BTB) members from around the country
gather
to watch their ever-graceful English Bulldogs participate in a custom-made
obstacle course.
Participants need not be rescues, or members. The only qualification is being an English
Bulldog.
"Fun Awards" are also awarded, such Best Dressed Bulldog & Owner/Bulldog Look
Alike.
The event, free to the public (there is a $1 park admission),
draws a crowd of about 100 people and usually approximately 50 bulldogs - not all are athletes; some are watchers.
(Broward County Park regulations require that all dogs be on leash and have proof of current rabies vaccination.)
Other efforts include a silent auction and the Bulldoggery, BTB's store for dogs.
This
fun morning of events draws attention to BTB's rescue efforts, of which are
extremely well-known throughout the country.
All
funds raised go directly towards the rescue of English Bulldogs.
All proceeds go to the prevention of animal abuse and neglect.
